The main application areas of modular power supplies

Article Source:Kinri Energy | Author:Kinri Energy | Issuing Time:2024.05.21
Modular power supply is a power supply that can be directly installed on printed circuit boards and can be used in power supply applications for digital or analog loads. Due to its high reliability, small size, high power density, and high conversion efficiency, power system design has become increasingly simple and widely used. So, what are the application areas that require the use of modular power supplies?

48V Military Power Module

1. Industrial sector

The industrial field includes industrial electrical, industrial automation control, and other aspects. Industry 4.0 applications require real-time control, software, and configurable I/O, all of which require power supply. The industrial module power supply needs to meet the requirements of small size, high efficiency, low EMI, and ensure the high reliability and stable operation of industrial equipment.

2. Instrument and Meter Industry

Industrial instruments refer to flow measuring instruments such as gas and liquid turbine flow meters, electromagnetic flow meters, and pressure switches and differential pressure switches, which require power supply in these situations. Whether to use transformers, switching power supplies, or modular power supplies for industrial instruments depends on specific circumstances, as each has its own advantages.

3. The smart home industry

The smart home industry involves Internet applications, control centers, smart switches, sockets, smart dimming, home appliance control, air conditioning control, access control, security, monitoring and other applications. For power supply products, small size, energy-saving, uninterrupted operation, safety and reliability are required.

4. Lighting industry

At present, LED is replacing incandescent and fluorescent lamps in lighting with advantages such as energy conservation, long lifespan, and flexible design, and is developing towards intelligent lighting. This requires the use of LED power supply.

5. Communication industry

A high-efficiency, high-performance, and highly reliable modular power supply designed specifically for various communication electronic devices, used for rectification, filtering, and voltage stabilization.

6. Electricity industry

In power grids, power networks, power monitoring, wired power, radio or other electromagnetic systems, power supply is required for equipment such as power system operation.

7. Rail transit industry

With the continuous development of the railway industry, in order to improve the reliability of onboard operation and passenger comfort, a large number of electronic devices are applied in rail transit. There is also a need for power modules to convert power supply, such as the DC conversion of internal electronics in cars and the power supply of internal modules in charging stations.

8. Medical electronics industry

Compared to other devices, medical equipment has the most stringent safety requirements, requiring the power supply to meet high safety and isolation standards.

9. Coal mining industry

A small volume, highly reliable, and safely isolated modular power supply designed specifically for various coal mining equipment, used for power supply in network communication, detection and monitoring, power systems, and other applications.

10. Military industry

Military power modules need to have high reliability, safety, concealment, and strong adaptability.

The application of modular power supplies is actually very extensive, with the main application areas mentioned above, as well as multiple fields such as mechanical equipment, handheld electronic devices, security, Internet of Things, intelligence, ships, aerospace, new energy, and scientific research. Currently, most applications are on circuit boards, commonly used for voltage conversion, and used in conjunction with a small number of discrete components.
