What is a self-excited switching power supply?

Article Source:Kinri Energy | Author:Kinri Energy | Issuing Time:2024.04.16
Self excited Switching Power Supply, abbreviated as self-excited power supply, is an electronic device that converts alternating current into direct current. It has the advantages of high efficiency, small size, light weight, and low cost, and is widely used in electronic devices.

1. What is a self-excited switching power supply?

A self-excited switching power supply is a type of power supply that uses AC input voltage to drive the switching transistor for self-excited oscillation. It does not require an external startup circuit to achieve voltage conversion from AC to DC. It consists of an input filtering circuit, a bridge rectification circuit, a switching transformer, an output rectification filtering circuit, and a feedback control circuit.

2. Working principle of self-excited switching power supply

The self-excited switching power supply starts working from the AC input voltage. When the input voltage is applied to the primary coil of the transformer, a magnetic field is formed, causing the magnetic flux density in the core of the transformer to constantly change. This will induce a certain voltage on the secondary coil of the transformer, and rely on the feedback control circuit to adjust the output voltage and control the conduction and cutoff of the switching tube, so as to stabilize the output voltage at the set value.

3. Function of self-excited switching power supply

The main function of self-excited switching power supply is to convert alternating current into direct current. It is widely used in fields such as computers, communication devices, household appliances, and electronic instruments. Its high efficiency, small size, light weight, and low cost make it an indispensable part of modern electronic devices.
