Introduction to Electric Motorcycle Charger

Article Source:Kinri Energy | Author:Kinri Energy | Issuing Time:2024.03.04
Electric motorcycle charger is a charging device used to charge electric motorcycles (electric vehicles), with one end connected to the electric vehicle's battery and the other end connected to an AC power source.

Principles of Electric Motorcycle Chargers

The principle of electric motorcycle chargers mainly involves the following aspects:

Rectification and filtering: The charger first converts the AC power from the external power source into DC power, which is usually completed through a rectifier. The rectifier uses a single-phase or three-phase bridge rectifier circuit composed of rectifier diodes. The rectified DC current contains high-frequency harmonics that need to be filtered out through a filter to ensure the quality of battery charging.

Control circuit: The control circuit is responsible for implementing the control and protection functions of the charger, including adjusting the output voltage, current, and charging time. It can also provide protection for the charger, such as overvoltage, overcurrent, and over temperature protection.

Power conversion and pulse width modulation: The power conversion circuit in the charger uses a switching power transistor (such as IGBT), which operates under the pulse control signal output by a pulse width modulation controller (such as UC3842). This design can switch direct current into a high-frequency pulse voltage with adjustable width, which can then supply the battery for charging.

Charging stage: The charging process of a battery includes three stages: constant current charging, constant voltage charging, and float charging. The sampling circuit inside the charger will send the sampling signal to the control circuit through a optocoupler, and the output end of the control circuit will send the widened or narrowed driving pulse to the gate of the switching power transistor to adapt to different charging states of the battery.

Protection function: The charger is designed with protection functions, such as fuse blown protection, overcurrent protection, overvoltage protection, etc., to prevent circuit damage and ensure safe use.

In summary, the working principle of electric motorcycle chargers involves multiple links such as rectification, filtering, control, power conversion, and pulse width modulation, aiming to provide a safe and efficient charging solution for electric motorcycle batteries.

Classification of electric motorcycle chargers

Electric vehicle charger, as the name suggests, is a device specifically designed to charge electric vehicles. There are many brands of electric vehicles, and of course, there are many corresponding chargers. After all, the horsepower of electric vehicles is different, and the demand for electric vehicle chargers is also different. So how should the types of electric vehicle chargers be classified?

1.According to composition classification, it can be divided into transformer type, thyristor type, and switching power supply type. Silicon controlled rectifier transformers are now very popular, which are low-cost, high current, small in size, lightweight, and so on.

2.According to functional classification, it can be divided into ordinary chargers and pulse chargers. Most electric vehicles use regular chargers, while only a few use pulse chargers. Pulse chargers can increase charging capacity, reduce battery temperature, and extend battery life.

3.According to charging mode classification, electric vehicle chargers are generally divided into first and second stage charging modes, and three-stage segmented modes. The first stage is called the constant current stage, the second stage is called the constant voltage stage, and the third stage is called the trickle stage. A three-level charger extends battery life and also increases charging time.

4. According to the classification of output power, there are three types of chargers: 12AH, 20AH, and 32AH.

5. According to the classification of output voltage, there are five popular types of chargers on the market: 24V, 36V, 48V, 60V, and 72V.

From the above content, we can understand that electric motorcycle chargers can be classified into 5 categories.

In the future, motorcycle chargers will continue to be updated to meet customer needs. In the future, motorcycle chargers will be equipped with more advanced technology to enable them to work more effectively and improve the range and safety of motorcycles. Meanwhile, with the continuous development of the motorcycle industry, the price of motorcycle chargers will also continue to decrease and become more popular.
