Microchip Technology Inc. today introduced its 3.3 kV XIFM plug-and-play mSiC™ gate driver using patented Augmented Switching™ technology. The driver comes with pre-configured module settings that work right out of the box, significantly reducing design and evaluation time.In order to accelerate the time to market, Microchip has completed the complex development work of gate driver circuit design, testing and verification for this plug-and-play solution. The XIFM digital gate driver is a compact solution with digital control, integrated power supply and a rugged fiber optic interface for increased noise immunity. The gate driver features a preconfigured “on/off” gate drive curve that can be tailored to optimize module performance.
It features 10.2 kV primary to secondary reinforced isolation with built-in monitoring and protection features including temperature and DC link monitoring, undervoltage lockout (UVLO), overvoltage lockout (OVLO), short circuit/overcurrent protection (DESAT) and negative temperature Coefficient (NTC). This gate driver also complies with the EN 50155 standard, an important specification for railway applications.
