Xiaomi applies for a charging control patent to increase charging power while avoiding safety hazards during charging

On April 30, 2024, the financial sector reported that, according to the announcement of the China National Intellectual Property Administration, Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software Co., Ltd. applied for a patent entitled "Charging control method, device, electronic equipment and readable storage medium", with the publication number of CN117955186A and the application date of October 2022.

The patent abstract shows that the present disclosure relates to a charging control method, device, electronic device, and readable storage medium. The method comprises: the battery of the terminal is connected to a charge pump on the terminal motherboard through three connectors, and the charge pump is connected to the charger. At the moment when the charger is inserted into the terminal or during the charging process through the charger, the status of the three connectors is detected. When a connector is detected to be disconnected, the fast charging protocol state machine is controlled to exit the fast charging mode, or the charging current or power of the charger is limited; Exiting fast charging mode when a connector is detected to be disconnected, or limiting the charging current or power of the charger, while increasing charging power, avoids safety hazards during charging and ensures safe charging of batteries with three connectors.
