ROHM has developed four small DC-DC converter ICs "BD9E105FP4-Z / BD9E202FP4-Z / BD9E304FP4-LBZ / BD9A201FP4-LBZ" for consumer electronics and industrial equipment applications such as refrigerators, washing machines, PLCs, and inverters. In addition, ROHM also plans to launch the BD9E203FP4-Z with a maximum output current of 2A and a switching frequency of 350kHz to further expand.
In recent years, in the fields of consumer electronics and industrial equipment applications, as product functions have increased, the requirements for saving circuit board space have become more stringent, and the use rate of small DC-DC converter ICs has also increased. In addition, reducing standby power consumption has become an urgent issue, which requires DC-DC converter ICs to achieve higher efficiency at low power (light load). To meet these market demands, ROHM has developed products that are smaller and more efficient than existing SOP-J8 packaged products.
The output current of the new products is 1A ~ 3A, and all adopt small SOT23 package size (2.8mm×2.9mm). Compared with ordinary SOP-J8 (JEDEC standard: equivalent to SOIC8) package (4.9mm × 6.0mm) products, the new product’s mounting area is reduced by approximately 72%, which is very helpful for miniaturization of power supply units. In addition, by adopting wireless structure packaging, wire impedance (resistance component of wiring) is also reduced, achieving high-efficiency operation.
Not only that, "BD9E105FP4-Z / BD9E202FP4-Z / BD9E304FP4-LBZ" adopts the COT control method*1 in light load mode. Compared with ordinary products, it is more efficient at light load and is very suitable for applications that need to reduce standby power consumption applications.
