The operation of public charging infrastructure increased by 44000 units in February 2024 compared to January 2024, with a year-on-year increase of 51.2% in February. As of February 2024, member units within the alliance have reported a total of 2.826 million public charging stations, including 1.239 million DC charging stations and 1.586 million AC charging stations. From March 2023 to February 2024, an average of approximately 80000 new public charging stations were added per month.
The operation status of public charging infrastructure in provinces, regions, and cities shows that 70.7% of the top 10 regions in Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Hubei, Shandong, Beijing, Anhui, Henan, and Sichuan have constructed public charging piles. The charging capacity in China is mainly concentrated in provinces such as Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hebei, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Shandong, Fujian, Shaanxi, Henan, etc. The electricity flow is mainly dominated by buses and passenger cars, while other types of vehicles such as environmental sanitation logistics vehicles and taxis account for a relatively small proportion. In February 2024, the total charging capacity in China was approximately 3.64 billion kilowatt hours, a decrease of 580 million kilowatt hours from the previous month, a year-on-year increase of 43.4%, and a month on month decrease of 13.7%.
As of February 2024, the operation status of public charging infrastructure operators in China ranks 15th in terms of the number of charging stations operated by charging operation enterprises, including: 544000 operated by Special Power, 477000 operated by Star Charging, 476000 operated by Cloud Fast Charging, 196000 operated by State Grid, 149000 operated by Weijing Cloud, 138000 operated by Dake Cloud, 131000 operated by Xiaoju Charging, 90000 operated by Southern Power Grid, 84000 operated by Shenzhen Car Power Grid, 75000 operated by Yiwei Energy, 72000 operated by Hui Charging, 53000 operated by Wancheng Wan Charging, 49000 operated by Weilan Fast Charging, and Wanma. Ai Chong operates 33000 units and China Putian operates 30000 units. These 15 operators account for 91.9% of the total, while the remaining operators account for 8.1% of the total.
The overall operation of charging infrastructure showed an increase of 530000 units from January to February 2024, a year-on-year increase of 6.17%. The increase in public charging stations was 156000, a year-on-year increase of 5.72%, while the increase in private charging stations built with vehicles was 416000, a year-on-year increase of 7.09%. As of February 2024, the cumulative number of charging infrastructure in China was 9.023 million units, an increase of 63.7% year-on-year.
Comparison between charging infrastructure and electric vehicles: From January to February 2024, the increase in charging infrastructure was 530000 units, and domestic sales of new energy vehicles were 1.025 million units. Charging infrastructure and new energy vehicles continued to grow rapidly. The incremental ratio of charging stations to electric vehicles is 1:1.9, and the construction of charging infrastructure can basically meet the rapid development of new energy vehicles.
