Is the wireless charging radiation of mobile phones too high to buy? The measured data will tell you the answer

Article Source:Kinri Energy | Author:Kinri Energy | Issuing Time:2024.05.30
The addition of wireless charging function to high-end mobile phones has gradually made wireless charging technology known to the public. This is not a novel technology, but many people are still not familiar with it. One of the issues is whether wireless charging has radiation. Some netizens even said, "The radiation of wireless chargers is even greater than that of mobile phone networks." So, how much radiation will seemingly high-tech wireless chargers bring to our daily use? Will it harm our health and safety? Now let's have a detailed discussion with everyone.

Apple 8x Wireless Charger

The principle of wireless charging is actually very simple. The famous principle of electromagnetic induction serves as its theoretical basis. Simply put, when current flows through a coil, a magnetic field is generated, and coils close to the magnetic field generate induced current, thereby achieving wireless transmission of current. The whole process is actually very simple, just like a transformer, where two coils are connected by iron blocks, and wireless charging turns the iron blocks into air, thus achieving wireless charging. By comparison, the efficiency varies greatly depending on the transmission medium. When a magnetic field is in the air, energy loss is significant. The solution is to increase the voltage and power to achieve centralized energy transmission, thereby offsetting the loss of energy in the air.

Just like high-voltage wires, living within the magnetic field range of high-voltage wires for a long time can have a certain impact on our physical health. How much harm can the magnetic field generated by wireless chargers bring to our lives and health? Previously, CCTV conducted a small experiment on this issue, inviting staff from the Beijing Telecom Business Hall's Dajiaoting store to test it. The staff uses a highly sensitive radiation tester, which can measure the radiation value of items such as mobile phones, and can also sense the degree of electromagnetic pollution in the surrounding environment. The higher the value, the more severe the radiation.

Using a high-sensitivity radiation tester, measure the radiation intensity of the wireless charger after connecting to the power source, compared to the increase in radiation when turning off the power source, to obtain the radiation intensity of the wireless charger. After turning on the power, the value increased from 150 to 180, and the increase was not very significant, but it proved that there was indeed magnetic field radiation.

At the same time, the staff also measured the magnetic field radiation generated by the mobile phone during use. Compared to wireless chargers, the radiation of mobile phones is much greater. Some phones have a radiation value of up to 2000 at the moment of connection, while others have a radiation value of 427 at the moment of connection, gradually decreasing to around 200 after connection.

The radiation of wireless chargers does not seem to be as large as imagined, but it cannot be ruled out that there are some low-quality products on the market that do not meet relevant regulations and standards, making it difficult to make a good judgment. However, in accordance with the current more common "Electromagnetic Radiation Protection Regulations", the average specific absorption rate (SAR) of the whole body for ordinary users for any continuous 6 minutes within 24 hours per day should be less than 0.02W/kg.

Of course, any electromagnetic field will bring a certain amount of magnetic field radiation, and the key lies in the strength of the magnetic field and the difference in magnetic field induction distance, and the strength of the radiation also varies. The stronger the electromagnetic field, the stronger the magnetic field radiation it naturally brings. At the same time, the distance of energy transmission is proportional to the strength of the electromagnetic field. The higher the power of the electromagnetic field, the greater the magnetic field radiation it brings. When the electromagnetic field radiation reaches a certain level, or when people live in a strong magnetic field environment for a long time, it can cause certain harm to our human body. Experts introduce that electromagnetic radiation exceeding 2 milligauss can cause diseases in humans, with the first and foremost being human skin and mucosal tissues. Symptoms include swelling of the eyelids, congestion of the eyes, nasal congestion and runny nose, discomfort in the throat, or repeated urticaria, eczema, itching, etc. on the entire body's skin; When it affects the immune function of the human body, vitiligo, psoriasis, allergic purpura, etc. may occur.

Mobile wireless chargers do bring some radiation to our bodies, but the electromagnetic radiation level is relatively low. Meanwhile, due to the fact that wireless chargers and phones can only work at close range during daily use, and the distance between them and people is relatively large, the actual harm caused is minimal.

Overall, wireless chargers for mobile phones are still very safe for daily use and can be purchased and used with confidence. Of course, if you want to charge your phone at an extremely fast speed, even reaching the speed of second charging, using a large wireless charger similar to a car to charge your phone can still cause magnetic field radiation damage when used up close. It is not recommended to play in this way.

If a friend says in the future that "wireless chargers emit more radiation than mobile phones," we can loudly tell them the correct answer. As for the specific product, I believe everyone wants to know if the radiation of the current mainstream wireless chargers compatible with Qi charging standards is harmful. We will inform everyone in the subsequent testing stage. Stay tuned.
