When designing a power adapter, heat dissipation is crucial. If a power adapter has poor heat dissipation performance, it will seriously affect its working performance and even lead to some safety hazards. So, when designing and producing power adapters, we often use some thermal insulation materials to help them dissipate heat. So, what are the commonly used thermal insulation materials?

1. Thermal conductive silicone tape

Thermal conductive silicone tape is generally used for power supply module wire tube packaging (such as switching power supplies), standard components TO-220, TO-3P, etc. When applied, a thin layer of thermal conductive silicone grease is usually applied to enhance the adhesion between them and achieve better thermal conductivity.

2. Thermal conductive silicone sheet

Relatively speaking, the application proportion of silicon film in the power supply industry may be slightly lower, but thermal conductive silicon film is sometimes indispensable. For example, the application of thermal conductive silicon film in power adapters is mainly concentrated on PCB boards, which have thermal conductivity, insulation, shock resistance, and more importantly, puncture resistance, which can meet safety regulations.

3. Thermal conductive sealing adhesive

Sub bureau sealing and overall sealing, local sealing is generally concentrated when the heat generation is high and cannot be replaced by other thermal conductive materials. If the surface of a transformer is uneven and irregular, a thermal conductive material that can seamlessly wrap it and cannot flow freely is needed. Thermal conductive sealing adhesive is a good choice. In addition, some power supplies are used for outdoor work, and while solving the problem of heat dissipation, waterproofing and sealing will be even greater. Therefore, many power supplies now adopt overall sealing, heat dissipation, and sealing.
