What is the difference between LED driver power supply and emergency power supply?

Article Source:Kinri Energy | Author:Kinri Energy | Issuing Time:2024.04.08
The main difference between emergency power supply and LED drive power supply lies in their functions and usage scenarios.

The mains power is input to the driving power supply, and after rectification, the DC voltage is output to light up the LED light. At the same time as the mains power input and lighting, the emergency power supply charges the battery and has the function of preventing overcharging. After a power outage, the LED driver power supply no longer has output. The emergency power supply converts the battery into AC or DC voltage through an inverter circuit. AC power is supplied to the LED driver power, while DC power is directly supplied to the LED light source.

Integrated 268C emergency lighting power supply

The main task of LED driver power supply is to convert the mains input into the DC voltage required for LED lighting fixtures, in order to light up the LED lights. This type of power supply works when the mains power is normal. Once the mains power is interrupted, the LED driver power supply cannot continue to work, so the LED lights will go out.

LED emergency power supply is a backup power supply, whose main task is to provide electricity in the event of a power outage. Emergency power supplies are usually equipped with one or more batteries, which are charged to reserve power when the mains power is normal. Once the mains power is interrupted, the emergency power supply will immediately switch to battery power mode and convert the DC power in the battery into AC power through an inverter circuit to supply the driving power and LED lights. At the same time, the emergency power supply will also directly provide DC power to the LED lights, ensuring that they can continue to work and provide lighting in the event of a power outage.

Therefore, although emergency power supply and LED drive power supply are both power conversion devices, their responsibilities and usage scenarios are different. The LED driver power supply is responsible for lighting the LED lights when the mains power is normal, while the emergency power supply is responsible for providing power in the event of a mains power outage to ensure that the LED lights can continue to work and provide lighting. This coordination enables LED lighting fixtures to work efficiently and energy-efficient when the mains power is normal, while maintaining lighting in the event of mains power interruption, improving the safety, reliability, and stability of the lighting system.
