Standard requirements for medical power adapters

Article Source:Kinri Energy | Author:Kinri Energy | Issuing Time:2024.03.18
The medical power adapter is a key component that provides electrical energy to medical equipment, and its performance and safety standards directly affect the normal and safe operation of medical equipment. The standards for medical power adapters mainly include:

1. Voltage accuracy
Medical equipment has high accuracy requirements for power supply voltage, generally within ± 5%. The output voltage of the power adapter must ensure high accuracy and not produce significant changes or pulsations.

2. Current accuracy
The working current of medical equipment also needs to be accurately supplied and controlled, and the accuracy of the output current of the power adapter should be within ± 5%.

3. Carrier and noise
The output of the medical power adapter must be pure DC and cannot contain obvious carrier, pulse, and noise signals. Generally, a filtering accuracy higher than 50dB is required.

4. Stability
The output voltage and current of the medical power adapter must ensure high stability, and even if there are significant changes in the input power, the output parameters can remain stable. Usually, it is required that the output voltage change is not greater than ± 1%.

5. Insulation and leakage
Medical power adapters must have a high insulation resistance, usually higher than 2M ohms, and a low leakage current, less than 0.5mA, to ensure safety.

6. Protection level
The protection level of the medical power adapter shall not be lower than IP21. It is generally above IP41 and has a certain waterproof and dust-proof ability to ensure operation in harsh environments.

7. Safety certification
Medical power adapters must be certified according to medical equipment safety standards, such as IEC60601-1. UL60601-1, to ensure the safety and reliability of the devices.

8. Electromagnetic compatibility
Medical power adapters must comply with the medical electromagnetic compatibility standard IEC60601-1-2. Avoid electromagnetic interference and have strong anti-interference ability.

Therefore, medical power adapters must meet both high performance requirements and safety standards, and the key lies in high-precision control of output voltage and current, low noise output, overvoltage and overcurrent protection, and protection level design. Strictly adhering to industry standards is the foundation for developing and selecting medical power adapters.
