Electric bicycles have become one of the means of transportation for consumers, and electric bicycle chargers, as the energy supply stations for electric bicycles, directly affect the range and user experience of electric bicycles in terms of performance and quality. In order to help consumers understand the real situation of the current quality of electric bicycle chargers and provide consumers with comprehensive and accurate consumption information, the Guangxi Consumer Rights Protection Committee conducted comparative experiments on electric bicycle chargers sold in the market, guiding consumers to choose and use electric bicycle chargers rationally and scientifically.

Source and situation of samples for comparative experiments

The samples for this comparative experiment were randomly purchased by staff from the Guangxi Consumer Committee as consumers from major supermarkets, shopping malls, brand stores, and other places in Guangxi, including brands such as Xipu, Jiezhixing, Shihong, Emma, Zhuxing, and Bidewen. There were a total of 15 electric bicycle charger samples, with sample prices ranging from 40 yuan to 120 yuan.

Comparative experimental items and basis

This comparative experiment comprehensively tested and evaluated 14 items of 15 samples of electric bicycle chargers, including "markings and instructions, protection against touching live parts, heating, structure, power connection and external flexible wires, heat and flame resistance, input current, power adaptability, shell impact, drop, leakage current, electrical strength, over temperature protection, and grounding effectiveness".


Analysis of comparative test results for electric bicycle chargers

(1)Overall situation of test results

The test results show that the overall performance of 15 samples of electric bicycle chargers is good, with one of them performing well and receiving a five-star award; 10 models with good performance won Samsung; Two models generally receive two stars in performance; Two models with poor performance won one star. The test results are only responsible for the samples purchased for comparative testing.

(2)Electrical safety index test results

Compare and test samples of electric bicycle chargers based on six electrical safety indicators related to product hardware usage safety or critical performance quality. The test results show that all 6 electrical safety indicators of the 15 electric bicycle charger samples meet national standards, and their performance is excellent and they have won five stars.

(3)Recommended performance indicator test results

This comparative experiment refers to the requirements of the recommended national standard GB/T 36944-2018, and tests 8 performance indicators of 15 electric bicycle charger samples, including input current, power adaptability, shell impact, drop, leakage current, electrical strength, over temperature protection, and grounding effectiveness.

The test results show that only one sample "Shihong" has 8 items that meet the requirements of the recommended national standard GB/T 36944-2018. The remaining 14 samples have some items that do not meet the recommended national standard.

In the four testing items of "power adaptability, drop, leakage current, and electrical strength", 15 samples all meet the requirements of recommended national standards.

In the "Over temperature Protection" project test, only one sample "Shihong" test result met the recommended national standard; The remaining 14 samples do not meet the requirements. Due to the lack of clear indication on the label of the sample regarding the recommended national standard used for this test, no result determination will be made. The data is for reference only. Special note: All 14 samples will not activate the over temperature protection when the temperature reaches 70 ℃. The new national standard GB 42296-2022 requires that the over temperature protection of the electric bicycle charger be activated within 15 minutes when the temperature reaches 70 ℃± 2 ℃ to prevent the charger from malfunctioning in high temperature environments and avoid safety accidents.

In the "Shell Impact" project test, the test results of the two samples "Jie Zhi Xing" and "Tian Chang Ju Duo Duo" did not meet the recommended national standard requirements. As the sample label did not clearly indicate the recommended national standard used for this test, no result judgment was made, and the data is for reference only.

In the "maximum input current" project test, 5 samples were labeled with "maximum input current", and the test results all met the recommended national standard requirements; The remaining 10 models are not labeled with "maximum input current", so they will not be compared.

The 15 samples of electric bicycle chargers tested in this test are all Class II appliances without grounding, so the "grounding effectiveness" item is not applicable.



Suggestions for purchasing

1.Choose to purchase from legitimate channels such as brand specialty stores and large shopping malls. When making a purchase, it is necessary to check whether the brand, manual, certificate of conformity, after-sales support card, and other information of the product are complete; At the same time, check if the product has safety functions such as over temperature protection, overcurrent protection, and short circuit protection. It is not recommended to purchase inferior chargers with incomplete product information and inadequate safety performance.

2.When choosing, compatibility should be considered. The main products circulating on the market are lithium battery chargers and lead-acid battery chargers, which correspond to the use of lithium batteries and lead-acid batteries. The two cannot be mixed. When purchasing, pay attention to the model and type of electric bicycle charger to ensure compatibility with the electric vehicle battery.

3.When making a purchase, it is necessary to check the product's execution standards and quality certification. Considering that GB 42296-2022 "Safety Technical Requirements for Electric Bicycle Chargers" has been implemented on July 1, 2023, it is recommended that consumers choose electric bicycle chargers produced after July 1, 2023, based on their actual needs, and the product execution standard is GB 42296-2022. Considering product quality certification and safety, it is recommended that consumers choose to purchase electric bicycle chargers with the voluntary CQC certification mark and the "three guarantees" service as much as possible.

1.When using and storing electric bicycle chargers, they should be placed in a dry and ventilated environment, and attention should be paid to moisture-proof and moisture-proof measures; To prevent liquids or metal shavings from entering the interior of the charger.

2.The electric bicycle charger will generate certain heat when it is working. It is strictly prohibited to place flammable materials, such as plastic or foam, at the bottom or around the charger when charging. If you smell an odor or the temperature of the charger case is too high during charging, you must immediately stop charging.

3.Try not to carry the charger with the vehicle. If necessary, the charger should be packaged with shock-absorbing materials, placed in the toolbox on the vehicle, and waterproof measures should be taken.
