Infinix launches its first self-developed power management chip Cheetah X1

Infinix is gearing up for the next smartphones in the Note lineup. For those unaware, the Infinix Note series is targeted at the mid-range market. These smartphones usually have decent performance and fast charging support. Now, it’s time for the next lineup: the Infinix Note 40 series.


The launch of the series is scheduled for March 18. As we get closer to the release date, the company is already trying to make the hype for the upcoming phones. On their Twitter handle, they uploaded a teaser for their new in-house chip named “Cheetah X1.”

Cheetah X1 may sound like the name of a fast processor that will break AnTuTu charts. But to break your hearts, this is just a power management chip. Infinix has developed the Cheetah X1 for one task and it is to optimize the battery. This chip lays down the foundation of the Quick Charge 2.0 for the upcoming Note 40 series smartphones.

Infinix Cheetah X1 Chip Can Help In These 8 Scenarios



The new power-management chip from Infinix helps smartphones with eight different scenarios. These include fast wired charging up to 100W, wireless charging, wired reverse charging, wireless reverse charging, bypass charging, AI charging protection for night charging, -20°C extreme temperature technology, and multi-protocol charging.

Moreover, the chip comes with a high-precision power monitor module which is responsible for detecting current and voltage in real time. It works by adjusting the charging volume according to the current, and ultimately it leads to a balance between charging efficiency and temperature control. This helps protect the battery life, and more importantly, maintains the phone’s health.

On paper, the Cheetah X1 chip seems like a good addition, especially features including extreme temperature charging. However, it is too soon to say if it will really affect smartphone’s health in the long run.

In a nutshell, the new Infinix Cheetah X1 chip works by optimizing the battery and charging functionality. The chip will debut with the Note 40 series. The upcoming series focuses on bringing fast charging. Hence, the new Cheetah X1 chip will be a perfect match for these high-speed charging devices.
