In today's electronic world, power plays a crucial role. The push-pull switching power supply has become an ideal choice in many fields due to its unique advantages. Whether in precision instruments, communication equipment, or consumer electronics and household appliances, it has demonstrated excellent performance and reliability.

Operational principle of push-pull switching power supply

The direct current at the input end supplies power to the power supply pins of the chip through the startup circuit, and the VDD charges the capacitor after being powered on. When the operating voltage of the chip is reached, the chip begins to work, and the OUTA outputs a high level. The upper MOSFET conducts, and the current flows through the main winding of the transformer to charge the lower capacitor. The transformer converts electrical energy into magnetic energy, while the output winding converts magnetic energy into electrical energy for the load. After the upper MOSFET conducts for a period of time, it stops, the lower MOSFET conducts, and the lower capacitor discharges. Continuously repeating this process, the voltage at the output end is passed through a voltage divider to the relevant pins of the chip.

Advantages and disadvantages of push-pull switching power supply

Advantages:

Good voltage output characteristics, suitable for scenarios that require high voltage stability, such as precision instruments, medical equipment, etc.

The voltage and current fluctuation coefficients are small, and can be applied in situations that require high power quality, such as audio equipment, communication equipment, etc.

High work efficiency, can effectively reduce energy consumption in large electronic devices or systems, such as server rooms, industrial automation production lines, etc.

The simple driving circuit makes it more convenient in design and maintenance, suitable for various electronic products, such as consumer electronics, household appliances, etc.

Disadvantages:

The circuit structure is relatively complex and the cost is high.

By understanding the working principle of push-pull switching power supplies, we can better understand their advantages and disadvantages, and make reasonable choices and designs in practical applications.
